Pahalgam attack anniversary: Army warns of decisive action if humanity’s limits are crossed

A day before the first anniversary of the Pahalgam terror attack, the Indian Army on Tuesday warned that any transgression of humanitarian limits would invite a “decisive response”, asserting that the nation stands united in its resolve against terrorism.

In a post on social media platform X, the Additional Directorate General of Public Information (ADGPI)said: “When boundaries of humanity are crossed, the response is decisive. Justice is served. India stands united.”
The post was accompanied by a poster that read: “Some boundaries should never be crossed. India does not forget.”
The warning came on the eve of the April 22, 2025 attack in Baisaran, Pahalgam, when terrorists opened fire on a group of tourists, killing 26 people, including 25 tourists and a pony ride operator.
In the wake of the attack, the Indian military launched retaliatory strikes on terror launch pads across the Line of Control (LoC) on May 7 under “Operation Sindoor”. The three-day operation ended with a ceasefire announcement on May 11 at 5 pm.
Meanwhile, Security has been intensified across Jammu and Kashmir ahead of the first anniversary of the Pahalgam terror attack.
An official said that senior officers are holding preparatory meetings to finalise a security plan, with a focus on religious shrines, tourist hubs, and vital installations across the Union Territory.
Officials said a QR code-based identification system has now been introduced for tourism service providers in Pahalgam to enhance visitor safety and ensure better monitoring. (KNS)
