Two Militants killed, Civilian injured in ongoing Sopore encounter: ADGP Kashmir

Sopore, Aug 31  : Two militants have been killed and a civilian injured in an ongoing encounter in the Bomai area of North Kashmir’s Sopore in Baramulla district late Wednesday evening.

A Senior Police Official said that two militants whose identification is being ascertained have been killed and a civillian has also been injured in Bomai area of Sopore in Baramulla district so far in the encounter.

The official identified the civilian as Ali Mohammed Ganaie son of Abdul Ahad Ganaie of Bomai.

Meanwhile, ADGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar confirmed the killing of 2 JeM militants in the encounter.
He also said a civilian who had received an injury during the encounter has been shifted to Srinagar hospital where his condition is stated to be stable.

Earlier officials said that a joint team of Army’s 22 RR, CRPF and Jammu and Kashmir Police laid a cordon and search operation in Bomai village of Sopore after receiving credible inputs about the presence of some militants in the area.

As the joint team approached the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon forces triggering off an encounter, they said.
