Senior BJP leader showkat Ahmad lashes out on previous Anantnag administration,demands inquiry

It will be written in the history of Jammu and Kashmir that the candidate who won the DDC election was  cancelled,said senior BJP leader Showkat Ahmad in Anantnag. Showkat Lashed out on previous Anantnag District administration and demanded an enquiry.

Anantnag,09,February: Senior BJP leader Showkat Ahmad lashed out on previous Anantnag administration, alleging rigging in DDC counting which was held on 22 December last year.

Showkat Ahmad during the press conference here in Anantnag alleged that when the LG Lieutenant Governor got to know about the glitch in DDC counting on 22 December he sent an official for inquiry. ‘I am asking the government to make a committee and do an inquiry on previous DDC counting whosoever will be involved in rigging counting should be booked’,said Showkat.

He said that we didn’t want to repeat 1987; our policy is to do free and fair elections.  It will be written in Jammu and Kashmir history that the candidate who won the DDC election was cancelled.

BJP leader Showkat Ahmad congratulated the winning independent candidate of Larnoo ,Ms Sajida begam, after recounting Sajida Begum (independent), who had previously lost by seven votes, was declared the winner by 61 votes against Khahda Bibi, a PDP candidate, and the previously declared winner.   Sajida had previously lost in the last election counting,Showkat said.

There is no hand of BJP in previous DDC counting. Our agenda was always a free and fair election,he said.

However, District Panchayat Election Officer, Anantnag, had on Thursday notified recounting of votes for 08-Larnoo DDC Constituency and the proceedings took place at Conference Hall, Dak Bungalow Khanabal. Deputy District Election Officer Anantnag was Nodal Officer.

The recounting of votes followed the directions by Additional Commissioner, Kashmir, the Appellate Authority, before whom Sajida Begum had preferred an appeal as per the law.

The DDC Election for 08- Larnoo was conducted in Phase-1 on 28 November last year and then the Returning Officer had declared the Khahda Bibi as the winner by a margin of 07 votes against her nearest rival Sajida Begum on 22 December last year when counting of the voting took place.

Meanwhile, BJP leader Showkat Ahmad thanked the Deputy Commissioner Anantnag Anshul Garg and SSP Anantnag Sandeep chowdary for their support to do free and fair recounting of Larnoo block in Anantnag.

Govt introduces MFA Security System on JK BEAMS Portal Jammu:The Finance Department of the Jammu and Kashmir Government has implemented Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) through Sandes (SMS-based authentication) on the JK BEAMS Portal to further strengthen the security framework of the online financial management system.According to an official circular issued by the department, the MFA system has been successfully integrated into the live environment and all concerned officers and users have been directed to ensure strict compliance with the new security protocols. The circular applies to all Director Finances, Director Plannings, Financial Advisors (FAs), Chief Accounts Officers (CAOs), Accounts Officers (AOs), Drawing and Disbursing Officers (DDOs), and Maker/Checker users associated with the JK BEAMS Portal. The department has emphasized that Maker/Checker users shall be solely responsible for the secure handling, confidentiality and proper use of their login credentials. Users have been strictly instructed not to share login details, one-time passwords (OTPs) or any authentication-related information with any unauthorized person under any circumstances. Officials have also been directed to ensure that their registered mobile numbers linked with Sandes remain active, valid and accessible for receiving authentication messages. Any discrepancy, authentication failure or technical issue is required to be reported immediately through the official email IDs issued by the department. The circular further stated that the respective Maker/Checker users will be held solely accountable for any transaction or activity carried out using their credentials.The order has been issued with the approval of the competent authority under reference number FD-BDGTODBT/1/2025-PMU-FD (7651222), and copies have been forwarded to all Administrative Secretaries for information and necessary compliance.
