Police arrests 03 drug peddlers in Baramulla; Contraband substances recovered

Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police have arrested 03 drug peddlers in Baramulla and recovered contraband substances from their possession.Officers from PS Baramulla under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Baramulla at a checkpoint established at Behrampora intercepted three persons identified as Qazi Burhan son of Qazi  Ab. Hameed, Qazi Asif son of Qazi Dawood Ahmad, both residents of Qazipora Delina and Imran Ahmad Sofi son of Ghulam Qadir Sofi resident of Rawathpora Delina. During checking, officers were able to recover 5 Kgs of Poppy straw and 03 grams of Brown sugar from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody.Similarly, acting on specific information regarding the drug peddling, a Police party of PS Sheeri under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Baramulla recovered 40 Kgs of Poppy Straw from the house of Ghulam Nabi Dar son of Mohd Shafi Dar resident of Paliharan Sheeri. However, the accused is absconding and efforts are on to effect his arrest.

Accordingly, police has registered cases under relevant sections of law in respective police stations and further investigations have been initiated.Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
