Anjuman Auqaf organises milad programme at Jama Masjid

Srinagar, Oct 06 :   To commemorate the auspicious birth anniversary of the revered Prophet of Islam, Hazrat Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him), a marvellous programme was held at the historic central Jama Masjid Srinagar under the auspices of Anjuman Auqaf Jama Masjid, which was presided over by Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir Dr Moulvi Muhammad Umar Farooq.

On the occasion, many reciters presented Naat-e-Rasool (SAW) while many scholars highlighted various aspects of the life of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

In his address, Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir termed the life of the holy Prophet (PBUH) as a beacon light for Muslims for all times to come. He said today when knowledge of Islam and its message is available and echoing in nook and corner of the world, the conditions of Muslims is contrary to that .

Mirwaiz said while Islam is rising with each passing day, Muslims in practice are moving away from its teachings , or following them selectively . Muslims are not observing the  principles of Islam and the sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in their lives.

We are organising meetings and seminars,. Our Masajids, Khanqahs and Imambarahs are resounding with the voice of Allah-u-Akbar, but we are moving away from the spirit of Islam teachings and sunnah , he lamented.

The main reason for this, Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir said is that we are not observing the values and principles of islam in our daily lives , in our work place , in our dealings with other people , in our relationships with fellow humans , in our day to day issues , instead we have relegated religion to just being another part of our life where we pray and recite the  quran  as if automatically without understanding the spirit behind it or it’s message and meaning . so immersed are we in worldly delusions , self promotion greed and arrogance that neither do we care about our society nor our life as a community, nor the world we will leave for our children.

Mirwaiz said that if we want to change this   to become good muslims and a good society and to overcome the difficulties and challenges facing our society we have to start at homes . Homes are the place where we bring up our children and practice our personal lives . It is here that Islamic teachings and practices are best learnt and cultivated . This process will have a positive impact on our society eventually, he said.

Mirwaiz said it is not only the responsibility of imams and scholars to preach from the mosques, but as a people it is the responsibility of each one of us to improve our conditions and create a positive change in society.

On the occasion, a leading religious scholar Moulana Shaukat Hussain Keing highlighted various aspects of the Prophet’s life and urged the Muslims to make following Sunnah an important part of their lives. Only then do we truly deserve to be called the Ummah of Muhammad (PBUH), he said.

Meanwhile, Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir visited the residence of the deceased member of the Awami Action Committee and Nawab Bazar constituency president Muhammad Yusuf Khan and expressed his condolences and solidarity with the bereaved family members. He paid tributes to the deceased for his valuable services and sacrifices to the organisation for the last more than 40 years. Mirwaiz also visited the house of the late Ghulam Ahmad Pir, resident of Budhgir, Ali Kadal, and expressed his condolences to the bereaved family. He prayed for Jannat-ul-Firdous to both Khan Sahib and Pir Sahib.
