Omar Abdullah: INDIA Bloc to Take Collective Stand on Proposed Central Bill

Share

Srinagar, Apr 15: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday said that a final decision on the Centre’s proposed bill will be made collectively by the INDIA bloc after detailed discussions.
He stated that a meeting of alliance partners is scheduled in New Delhi, where the matter will be deliberated before arriving at a joint response, both inside and outside Parliament. Abdullah emphasized that his party alone would not take a unilateral decision and would instead align with the broader consensus of its allies.
The Chief Minister added that the National Conference will also finalize its position after these consultations, noting that clarity is expected following the meeting.
Expressing concern over past delimitation exercises, Abdullah remarked that earlier changes in constituency boundaries appeared to favor certain political interests. He cautioned that if any new bill reflects a similar intent, it must be closely scrutinized to ensure it serves the public interest rather than political advantage.
He reiterated that the party will take an informed and collective stand after discussions and will communicate its position accordingly.
