Nowgam Police Station Blast: DGP, IGP Assess Site; 9 Dead, 29 Injured Press Briefings Scheduled in Srinagar & New Delhi
Srinagar, Nov 15: Top police officials this morning visited the Nowgam Police Station, where an accidental explosion during the night claimed nine lives and left 29 others injured.
J&K DGP Nalin Prabhat reached the site shortly after the blast, reviewed the extent of damage and briefed officers on ground before departing.
IGP Kashmir Vidhi Kumar Birdi also visited the station early today to take firsthand stock of the circumstances leading to the incident.
A senior security official earlier confirmed the casualty figures, calling it a deeply unfortunate accident.
Meanwhile, DGP Prabhat is likely to address a press conference at 10 AM in Srinagar, while the MHA will brief the media in New Delhi at 10:30 AM on the latest updates regarding the Nowgam explosion.
