Militant killed in Tral gunfight, body recovered

A militant was killed in a gunfight with security forces in forests of Brenpathri of Kahlil Tral area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Wednesday.

Acting on a credible input, a cordon & search operation was launched jointl statey forces at Branpatri, forest area of Tral in Awantipora, said a police spokesman.

He said that during search operation, hiding terrorists fired on the search party. The fire was retaliated leading to an encounter.

In the ensuing gunfight, a militant was killed and the body was retrieved from the site of  gunfight, the spokesman said adding that the identity and affiliation of the slain militant is being ascertained.

He said that incriminating material including arms & ammunition has been recovered from the site of gunfight.
