Meet “Rehman Chacha” man who is winning hearts of attendants in GMC Anantnag

Anantnag: Hospitals in valley usually witness a huge inflow of visitors and attendants brawling with security staff on trivial matters.
At GMC Anantnag ,its a normal routine , once a week ,to observe attendants up in arms against hospital management or the security guards .The reason being the hospital caters to the whole south of Kashmir including the Peer Panchal range of Warwan, Ramban and Banihal.
Abdul Rehman Lato (57), a security Guard at GMC Hospital ,Anantnag looks after two wards in GMC Anantnag. The medical ward and isolation ward ,where the Rehman chacha has won the hearts of attendants with his dedication,and helpful nature . Chacha is helping attendants (of patients )in wards from guiding them for their tests to buying them medicines from outside.
Rehman Chacha starts his day at 9 and works till 5 in the evening at hospital .His main job is to maintain discipline as well as keep people at bay in hospital to prevent large crowds ,.amid ongoing pandemic, from visiting their patients admitted in the hospital.
While talking to Arising state Rehman chacha said ,’It’s very difficult to work ,but if we dont fulfill our duty ,who else will help patients at a time when their own family members cannot meet them,” he said. Added that they need to understand that the attendants in hospitals are already in trouble ,our duty is to help them out at this tough time so that they can have at least some relief.
Rehman Chacha hails from Zirpora Bijbehara areaof South kashmir’s Anantnag District,and has been working as a security guard in GMC Anantnag for the last 16 years.
Chacha is mostly performing his duties in isolation and medical wards in GMC Anannag. During the peak of covid19 pandemic Rehman chacha never left hope and continued performing his duty in harshest conditions.
Despite working in constant bio threat zones, there are several sweepers, security guards like Rehman Chacha who are doing commendable jobs and showing remarkable grit and professional dedication in hospitals.
Interestingly,Rehman Chacha can always be seen with a stick in his hand to prevent large number of people from gathering in the isolation and medical ward,however ,Chacha has never used his stick on people ,because he understands the compulsions of attendants.That’s how Chacha got his name ‘ crowd controller ‘ quite famous name in GMC Anantnag..
