Mansukh Mandaviya Inaugurates 30-Bedded ESIC Hospital in Budgam, Highlights Worker Welfare Push

Budgam, April 24: Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on Friday inaugurated a newly constructed 30-bedded Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) hospital at Ompora in Budgam district, marking a significant step towards strengthening healthcare infrastructure for workers in the region.

The hospital, located at the SIDCO Industrial Estate in Ompora, has been designed with an initial capacity of 30 beds and is expandable up to 100 beds, reflecting future plans to scale up healthcare services under the Employees’ State Insurance (ESI) scheme.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Mandaviya highlighted the Government of India’s commitment to expanding accessible and affordable healthcare services for workers and their families. He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for spearheading key reforms aimed at improving labour welfare and ensuring free or subsidized medical care across the country.

The minister emphasized that the new ESIC facility will benefit a large number of insured workers in Budgam and adjoining areas by providing cashless and dedicated medical services closer to their place of work, particularly in the industrial belt.

The event witnessed the presence of several dignitaries, including Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi and Aga Syed Muntazir Mehdi, among others.

Officials said the hospital is part of a broader initiative by the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation under the Ministry of Labour and Employment to strengthen worker-centric healthcare infrastructure across industrial regions.

The inauguration underscores the government’s focus on inclusive development, social security, and improved healthcare access for the labour workforce, while also aligning with ongoing efforts to expand ESIC facilities nationwide.
