Locals live in fear after leopard kills cattle in Satoora village in Pulwama

People in  Satoora village of Aripal tehsil in Pulwama district are in a state of fear following an attack by a leopard that not only injured livestock of farmers ,but killed many according to locals of the area. This attack on the livestock in the  area, has created a panic among locals.

“Leopard appeared in Bokhdan Check village of Aripal’s Satoora, attacked cowsheds and killed few cattle ,said locals”.

The locals alleged that the wild animal was set free by wildlife department, after capturing it from some other area.The owners, whose livestock has been killed or maimed, include Abdul Rashid Chopan and Abdul Aziz Dar. Fearing more attacks and threat to human life the locals  are urging authorities to intervene. Meanwhile, Imtiyaz Ahmad, Range Officer Wildlife, Aripal range, told Arising State correspondent that they have placed a cage and are trying their best to trap the leopard. He however, refuted the local claims that leopard was freed by the wildlife department in the village following his catch.
