Govt. mulling on allowing Muharram processions on 2 routes in Srinagar: Div Com Kashmir
Srinagar, July 25 : Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri Tuesday said that government is mulling on allowing Muharram processions on twin routes in Srinagar. He said authorities conduct several rounds of discussions with community and asked them to come up with exact number of participants taking part in processions.
“Authorities held series of meetings to discuss lifting of restrictions on Muharram processions which were imposed some 33 years ago. The government is serious this year and is mulling to allow processions on two routes in Srinagar,” Divisional Commissioner Kashmir V K Bidhuri as per reports.
He said the ball is in the court of the Shia community who have been asked to provide details on how many people are participating in the procession.
Replying to a query, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir said several projects have been completed while rest of the works will be completed before August 15, this year.
