EOW files chargesheet against four in fake airport jobs scam

Srinagar, July 22 : The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Crime Branch, Kashmir, has filed a chargesheet against four persons for allegedly duping job aspirants from different parts of the Valley of lakhs of rupees on the pretext of providing jobs in the Airports Authority of India, officials said on Wednesday.

The chargesheet was filed before the court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Srinagar, in connection with FIR No. 36/2018 registered under Sections 420 and 120-B of the Ranbir Penal Code, read with Section 66(D) of the Information Technology Act, they said.
The accused have been identified as Mohit Sharma alias Bhardwaj of Noida, Uttar Pradesh, Mukesh Kumar of New Delhi, Mehmood Khan of New Delhi and Ram Lakhan of New Delhi, the officials said.
According to the Crime Branch, the case was registered following complaints from several districts of the Kashmir Valley alleging that the accused had collected large sums of money from unemployed youth by falsely promising to secure them jobs in the Airports Authority of India.
During the investigation, the allegations were found to be substantiated, following which the chargesheet was presented before the competent court for trial, the officials said.
The Crime Branch urged the public to remain cautious against employment-related frauds and advised victims of economic offences to report such incidents to the Senior Superintendent of Police, EOW Kashmir, or lodge complaints through the designated email, they added. (KNS).
