Civil Secratariat re-opens in summer capital ,JK Gov,Satya Paul given ceremonial guard of honor
After a six month-long recess, the Civil Secretariat offices and other move offices of Jammu and Kashmir govt re-opened today in summer capital Srinagar today.
Darbar Move is over 145-year-old practice under which the Secretariat and all other important offices in the state shift from summer capital city Srinagar to winter capital city Jammu on a rotation of six months.
The Raj Bhavan, civil secretariat and over 50 offices are part of the Darbar Move. This practice was started by Dogra rulers in 1872.
Amid tight security arrangements put in place at the Secretariat and other offices the civil secretariat and other moving offices of J&K opened on Monday here.
Official sources said that as part of tradition, Governor Satya Pal Malik received a ceremonial guard of honour at civil secretariat this morning by a contingent of the state’s armed police upon his arrival at the secretariat.
Speaking to the media on the ocassion Malik said conducting of Lok Sabha elections in the state is the decision of Election Commission of India only it has the authority to decide on when these polls should be held.
Replying to another question on the killing of a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader in Anantnag district on Friday, Malik said security of political workers in the state was being reviewed.
He said an inquiry is also being held on whether there was a security lapse that led to the killing.
