Business fraternity protests against levying of highway toll tax in south Kashmir
Scores of traders and transporters on Wednesday staged a protest outside the office of Deputy Commissioner Anantnag in south Kashmir against the imposition of levying toll tax by National Highways Authority of India(NHAI). All traders and manufacturers association along with members of the transport association of Anantnag district assembled in DC office premises and raised slogans against the toll tax. They were urging the government to revoke the order at the earliest. General secretary ATMA Hakeem Sajad said that they demand an immediate rollback of the decision to levy toll tax, or else traders fraternity will come on roads against this autocratic order, Sajad said. The protesters later submitted a memorandum to DC Anantnag.The toll is being collected by the NHAI at the toll Post Kachkoot Fee Plaza in Sangam area of the south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
