Awantipora: Large number of workers on Wednesday staged protest against a construction company at AIIMS project site in Awantipora allegedly over ‘de-hiring’ orders.
A group of workers told media persons that they received ‘de-hiring’ orders from the concerned managers of construction company, titled as NCC (which has taken the AIIMS project for construction purposes).
The aggrieved workers assembled near the centre of AIIMS site, and raised slogans in favour of their demands.
They said that they have been working there for 9 months, but have faced ‘de-hiring’ orders now, with concerned officials giving no explanation on it.
They demanded that authorities should look into the matter and should resolve their issues.
Aijaz Batla, Manager HR has refuted the claims made by the protesting workers, and said that they “had to transfer workers, in wake of suspension of construction work ahead of winters.”
He however said that “workers will be getting basic pay under minimum wages act.”
