BUDGAM POLICE SOLVE GOLD THEFT CASE; STOLEN GOLD RECOVERED, ACCUSED ARRESTED

Budgam, 21 Sep 2026: Budgam Police have solved a gold theft case registered at Police Station Charar-i-Sharief with the arrest of the accused woman and recovery of the stolen gold bangle.

Police Station Charar-i-Sharief received a written complaint regarding the theft of a gold bangle from the wrist of the complainant’s mother during their visit to the Charar-i-Sharief Shrine.

Acting on the complaint, Police Station Charar-i-Sharief registered FIR No. 70/2026 under Section 303(2) BNS and initiated an investigation. During the course of investigation, CCTV footage and other available evidence were meticulously analysed, which led to the identification of the suspected accused involved in the commission of the crime.

The accused woman, identified as Maqsooda, W/o Tariq Ahmad, R/o Madbal, Chadoora, presently residing at Bagh-i-Mehtab, Srinagar, was subsequently apprehended by the investigating team.

During questioning, the accused disclosed her involvement in the commission of the crime, following which the stolen gold bangle was recovered from her possession. Further investigation into the case is underway.
