Tearful farewell to slain Police officer Arshid Khan
A large number of people from all walks of life bade a tearful farewell to the slain police officer , Arshid Ahmed Khan on Monday.
J&K Police, locals, relatives, Advisors to the Governor, Home Secretary, DGP J&K, and other senior officers paid tributes to martyr and “risky job lover”Arshid Ahmed Khan”,SHO Anantnag JK police.
Critically injured in an encounter with lone Fidayeen at KP Road Anantnag on June 12, he succumbed to injuries after he was carried from SKIMS to AIIMS by air ambulance.
Arshad (40), was killed when he stepped out of his armored vehicle when a bullet fired by lone fidayeen ricocheted from his service rifle hitting him on chest last week.
His seniors and colleagues called Khan a brave officer and said it is an immense loss to the organisation. Arshad had completed only 20 days as Saddar Police SHO Anantnag.

He was previously posted as SHO Brijbehara in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district. Last Wednesday, a phiren clad Fidayeen attacked CRPF men on law and order duty at 1651 hours.
400 metres away, Khan reached the site. He cocked his service weapon aiming to take a shot at the millitant who was spraying bullets, showing exemplary courage.
But the moment he stepped out of his official bulletproof vehicle along with his service rifle, a barrage of bullets were fired by the millitant. One ricocheted from the butt of his service rifle and hit his liver and duodenum.
Khan was rushed to 92 Base Hospital and was too critical to be flown to AIIMS. He is survived by his wife and two sons aged four and one. He has a younger brother and an uncle who is a cancer patient.
A senior officer said he was helping his uncle with cancer treatment, was an incredibly brave officer and good at heart.
Arshad belonged to Srinagar’s Karanagar.
Martyr officers wreath-laying ceremony was held at District Police Lines, Srinagar on Monday.
Senior officials of the state government and officers of the JK Police took part in the wreath-laying ceremony, said a police spokesman.
Senior civil and police officers including Advisors to the Governor, Home Secretary, DGP J&K and other senior officers laid floral wreaths on his mortal remains. Rich tributes were paid to the slain officer, he said.
Later on, his mortal remains were taken to his residence located in Balgarden area of Srinagar district where his last rites were performed.Thousands of people participated in the funeral ceremony of the slain officer. His body was laid to rest at his family graveyard located in Batamaloo area of Srinagar.
