Delhi Red Fort Blast: Death Toll Rises to 13; Red Fort Shut for 3 Days, Nation on High Alert
New Delhi, Nov 11: A powerful blast near the historic Red Fort in the national capital has left 13 people dead and several injured, sending shockwaves across the country. The explosion occurred near Netaji Subhash Marg on Sunday evening, prompting the closure of the Red Fort for three days (November 11–13) due to heightened security concerns.
Forensics teams, Delhi Police, NIA personnel, and dog squads have cordoned off the area and are collecting evidence. A case under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) has been registered.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah has called a high-level security review meeting at his residence to assess the situation and coordinate further measures. Meanwhile, security has been tightened across major cities, including Srinagar, Jammu, and parts of Punjab, Haryana, Karnataka, and Himachal Pradesh.
In the aftermath of the incident, the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) has issued a travel advisory, cautioning against all travel to certain parts of India, including the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir (except for air travel to and within Jammu).
The Wagah-Attari border crossing has also been temporarily closed.
Security agencies across the country remain on high alert as investigations continue into what is being termed one of the most serious terror attacks in recent years.
