Budgam, Aug 12: The Budgam electrocution incident claimed its second life after ten days, as 22-year-old Adfar Imtiyaz of Ichgam succumbed to burn injuries at SMHS Hospital Srinagar on Tuesday.

Officials told that Adfar, son of Imtiyaz Ahmad Mir, was critically injured along with his friend Zeeshan Ahmad Nayak when both suffered an electric shock while bathing in a spring at Ichgam ten days ago. Zeeshan, son of Ghulam Rasool Nayak, had died on the spot, while Adfar was shifted to SMHS Hospital in a critical condition.

Despite intensive treatment for nearly ten days, doctors could not save him. His body was later handed over to his family and taken to Ichgam for funeral prayers and burial.

The double tragedy has cast a pall of grief over the area. Authorities have already started an investigation to determine the cause of the electrocution and explore measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
