Mind your own business

The web has changed everything. Anyone with a blog can be a reporter, anyone with a cell phone can be a videographer, and anyone on Facebook, Twitter or a thousand other platforms can be a news editor..This is the reality of social media that has given access to every individual to be a jack of all trades .
A media person is hardly given any recognition instead people from different professions and backgrounds are debating and reporting without any knowledge of reporting.A doctor on twitter is cautioning people about the political policies ,similarly people from entertainment business particularly FM are getting higher officials on board in their shows, that are purely meant for entertaining people,to dig hard and find stories .Similarly,a person who belongs to the occupation of medicines delivers lessons on journalism.
These trade offs galore the idea that people are either dissatisfied with their jobs or they do not find it rewarding enough or they simply want attention by poking their nose in every other affair.
A cobbler is supposed to mend the shoes ,not fix the dripping pipe of your bathroom.. We can exchange goods and services,as happens in the barter system , but not skills.A person qualified with a particular skill set understands his job responsibilities and does justice with his job without harming the essence of his core job .
Top corporates find it most challenging to look for the right people for the right jobs. It takes at least two years to prepare an employee to fill a responsible position in a complex working environment. The important issue is making sure that particular people are matched to particular positions. “If they are given the wrong jobs, with the wrong things to do, they will be square pegs in round holes, no matter how much potential talent they have,’’ explains a corporate HR manager.
However,it seems irrelevant in our valley ,where every individual performs every job irrespective of the job knowledge .The only criteria meted out is your ability to dominate people. The more you dominate and flaunt the more you are rewarded among peers and gangs of social networking sites.
The herd mentality has to be stopped somewhere or else one more death of a profession is inevitable.
Journalism is a serious business and should not be used as against our personal grievances , achieve fame ,build contacts or achieve material goals.Let’s mind our own businesses and excel in our own domains to help our society to grow .Lets share joy not rumors by sticking to our own realms and understand our responsibility towards our own people..
