Brief shootout after forces lay siege to south Kashmir’s Anantnag
Militants and the security forces exchanged a brief fire during a search operation in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Saturday morning, police said.
“Exchange of fire between security forces and millitants at Anantnag. Area under cordon. Details shall follow,” Jammu and Kashmir police said on Twitter.
Reports said that a joint team of Army’s 19RR and SOG Anantnag launched a search operation in Dehruna area today morning.
A senior police officer told local news agency ,when the forces approached a suspected spot ,following reliable inputs, about the presence of some militants, there was initial exchange of fire with militants.
The officer further said that firing has stopped from both sides but they have tightened the cordon and have sealed all the exit points.
