APSPA and disturbed area act to be reviewed not revoked:Congress

Indian National Congress (INC) on Thursday clarified its position that the party didn’t promise to repeal Armed forces Special Power Act (APSPA) but promised to review it.

Congress spokesperson Meem Afzal while addressing a presser at party headquarters in Srinagar said that the party is being targeted for putting the  lives of forces at risk since it promised to review AFSPA and Disturbed Areas Act. “We didn’t say that we will revoke it but only promised to review it,” he said.

About the restriction on civilian movement on Sundays and Wednesdays on highway ,in view of the forces convoy, Afzal said that it is good that steps are being taken for the  wellbeing of forces, but at the same time civilians must not be ignored.

Afzal however, didn’t clear the party’s position regarding deputing three interlocutors to Kashmir.

Asked whether the report of new interlocutors will be thrown into the dustbin again as happened in the past, Afzal said that party is concerned about the prevalent situation in Kashmir that was created since last five years, saying that the facts about Kashmir are not being portrayed in well manner.
