Army organises awareness lectures on ‘women empowerment schemes in J&K’
Jammu: A series of lectures on “Women Empowerment Schemes in J&K” was conducted by Indian Army at Government Middle School, Jhullas, Maniyal, Pir Baba and Youth Centre, Palma in Poonch and Rajouri Districts.The aim of the lecture was to spread awareness amongst the people of Poonch and Rajouri Districts about various women empowerment schemes being run by State / Central Government especially for women / girls such as Financial Assistance for Women (Integrated Social Security Scheme), Professional Training for Women (Mahila Samridhi Yojana), Loan for Women from Minority Communities, Support to Women with Disability (National Handicapped Financial and Development Corporation), Merit Scholarship Scheme, Loan for Skilled Young Women (Scheme for Empowering Skilled Young Women-2009), J&K Ladli Beti Scheme, Financial Assistance for Marriage (State Marriage Assistance Scheme) etc.The initiative was appreciated by the locals and they expressed their gratitude for the knowledge imparted to them. Such events definitely have a lasting impact on populace of remote areas as they increase their awareness towards knowing their rights in a democratic society.
