Winter Wonderland Gulmarg is Ready to Host Global Tourists : CEO Tariq Naik
Slopes Set for Skiing, Heli-Skiing, and Snowboarding
The Chief Executive Officer of the Gulmarg Development Authority (GDA), Tariq Hussain Naik, described the snowfall as a timely blessing and said it had fulfilled earlier technological weather forecasts.
“This is the age of technology. We had positive forecasts for substantial snowfall, which we had been waiting for over a long time. Almighty Allah has blessed Gulmarg with this abundance, turning it into the true winter wonderland it is known as,” Naik said.
Highlighting the wider impact, the GDA CEO said the snowfall would not only boost tourist arrivals but also play a crucial role in replenishing water resources across the Kashmir region.
Naik said ensuring tourist convenience remains the administration’s top priority. “The R&B Mechanical Department and GDA teams are on the ground. Our focus is on clearing all roads and parking areas affected by snow. We aim to restore full access by tonight,” he said.
He added that all departments are working in coordination to regulate winter services and enhance the overall experience for visitors. “No effort will be spared to make Gulmarg a disciplined, world-class tourism destination,” he asserted.
The CEO also appealed to tourists to follow official advisories for a safe and smooth stay.
Referring to overall tourism trends, Naik said that the first month of 2026 has witnessed a return to normal footfall in the Valley, calling it a positive sign for the sector.
“With this snowfall, our skiing slopes, snowboarding and heli-skiing facilities are all set. We are ready to welcome tourists from across the world and offer them a memorable winter experience in Gulmarg,” he added.
