Villagers demand widening of Ashmuqam-Ainoo road : Anantnag
Sameer Ahmad
Anantnag: Residents of Ashmuqam Peer Mohalla in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district have demanded widening of the road and its macadamization at the earliest.
They said that the narrow winding road was causing traffic jams and accidents too.
The residents complained that everyday traffic jams are witnessed for hours on the Ashmuqam Ainoo Road as the width of the road is only 10 Ft and is not enough for two-way traffic, said Nazir Ahmad a local resident while speaking with Arising sate.
Added that this is the only and busiest road that connects the Ashmuqam Shrine to it. .A slight rainfall leads to waterlogging causing massive traffic jams and great inconvenience to locals, transporters especially students and has become accident prone. Nazir said
However, talking to Arising state residents said that despite passing several years the R&B Department has failed completely to upgrade and macadamize this vital road. Various times we have approached the R&B department by representations, but no one is hearing our demands, they said.
Added that the R&B Department failed to carry out necessary widening and repairing of road, they have requested Deputy Commissioner Anantnag for widening the road to end the difficulties of the vast population living in the area.
