Undeserving beneficiaries registered in social welfare schemes in Tral, get benefits for years

Tral, 12 October: In a bizzare move, social welfare department in Tral have registered undeserving beneficiaries in the different schemes and have been giving benefits to them for a long.

In the registration lists of different schemes like WID, IGNOAPS, OAP, PCP and others at Social Welfare Office Tral, it was seen that hundreds are those who are undeserving and have been receiving the benefits for years.

The scam in the lists were surfaced in a back to village program at one of the Tral villages, following which it was noticed that hundreds are added unnecessarily and have been getting benefits.

The locals have resented this scam & demanded probe into it.

Farooq Trali, a social activist, expressed displeasure over the registration of undeserving beneficiaries in the list and said that authorities should begin inquiry into the matter to unmask the involved employees.

Meanwhile, Tehsil Social Welfare Officer, Tariq Ahmad, said that they have already initiated the weed out process and have so far removed many undeserving people from the list.

He said that process to weed out other undeserving persons is going on.
