Terrorist Killed, Army JCO Injured in Kulgam Gunfight: Army
Srinagar, Sept 08: A terrorist was killed and a junior commissioned officer (JCO) of the Army injured during an encounter in the Guddar forest area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Monday, officials said.
The Army’s Chinar Corps stated that the operation was launched based on specific intelligence provided by Jammu and Kashmir Police. Troops from the Army, J&K Police, and CRPF conducted a joint search in the forested region.
During the operation, forces noticed suspicious movement. “Vigilant troops observed suspicious activity and, upon being challenged, the terrorists opened fire, leading to a fierce exchange of gunfire,” the Army said in a statement.
In the encounter, one militant was killed, and an Army JCO sustained injuries. Officials added that the search operation was ongoing in the area at the time of reporting.
