Srinagar, Nov 28: Srinagar Police, assisted by personnel from the 132 Battalion CRPF and the Mahila Company of 213 Battalion, carried out a joint Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in the Lal Chowk area on Friday morning, conducting surprise checks across several hotels and lodging facilities.
Officials said the operation was launched following intelligence alerts suggesting that anti-national elements may attempt to misuse accommodation facilities in the commercial hub. Teams inspected guest credentials, staff details, and record registers maintained by hotel managements to ensure no suspicious or unauthorised individuals were staying in the area.
A women’s contingent was also deployed to handle searches and verification of female occupants.
A senior police officer said the exercise was part of strengthened preventive security measures aimed at maintaining peace and safety in high-footfall zones of the city. He added that similar checks would be carried out in other localities to ensure a secure environment for residents and visitors.
Authorities have advised hotel owners to strictly adhere to guest verification protocols and report any suspicious behaviour immediately. The operation concluded smoothly, with no untoward incident reported.
