Anantnag,01 May: With skyrocketing cases of coronavirus across the country, many people who arrived for the Covid-19 test at the government testing centre at GMC Medical college Anantnag on Saturday complained of standing in long queues for hours together to get RT- PCR done.

According to sources, People, who joined a long queue at the centre as early as 9 am on Saturday, waited till 12 pm for the submission of the RT-PCR samples.

According to them they hardly maintained social distancing, adding the long ques only increase the chance of spreading the deadly virus, in case there is any positive case in the queue.

At present, the district administration is carrying  Covid-19 vaccination drive at various sub-center locations in Anantnag District. These locations are static booths where residents can walk in and get themselves vaccinated free.

A patient, who had tested covid positive some days back and was in isolation for seven days, while talking to Arising state said that he arrived at the hospital early morning today for the RT-PCR test, there was a long queue waiting for the RT-PCR test. ”I also stayed in jam-packed line for an hour, after an hour I was told to come at 12 o’clock.”

The patient added that this negligence on part of  GMC administration puts the lives of common people at risk, who are staying in long queues for hours for RT-PCR test. He said the ques there were too long, and he feared anybody would contract covid while waiting in the queue if he didn’t already have it.

However, talking to the Arising state principal GMC Anantnag Showkat Geelani said that it is compulsory for the person to give his details before going for the RT-PCR test first, and fill the form of a patient. All the details are uploaded on the portal, after uploading the details on the portal the details are generated and they provide us a number of the patient. It takes almost half an hour for the RT-PCR test. However, the principal refuted the allegations and said that people should understand and cooperate with the concerned employees of the hospital.
