Operation suspended till morning in Rawalpora Shopian

Rawalpora Shopian Operation has been suspended till morning due to darkness.

Lights have been  installed and Multiple Tight cordon layers will remain enacted. The operation will resume with the first light of day., sources said.Two Local Militants are believed to be trapped.

District commander for Shopian Wilayat Lone Alias Sajad Afghani of Lashkar-e-Toiba was believed to be trapped in an ongoing gunfight in Shopian.

Afghani, resident of Rawalpora was initially associated with Jaish-e-Mohammad outfit and few months before he had switched to LeT. He has been active since 2018.

Earlier,  a joint team of Police and army launched a cordon and search operation in Rawalpora, Shopian based on specific inputs about the presence of militants in the area.

As the joint team of forces approached the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon the forces, triggering off a gunfight.
