New Delhi/LoC: In a significant escalation following the Pahalgam terror attack, India early Wednesday carried out Operation Sindoor, targeting nine terror-linked sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoK), officials confirmed.

The Indian Army stated that the strikes were aimed at terror infrastructure responsible for planning and directing attacks on Indian soil. “We are living up to the commitment that those responsible for this attack will be held accountable,” said an official statement, referencing the recent Pahalgam incident in which 25 Indians and one Nepali citizen lost their lives.

The operation, described as “focused, measured, and non-escalatory,” was executed from within Indian airspace and deliberately avoided targeting Pakistani military installations. The nine terror camps hit include:

  1. Markaz Subhan Allah, Bahawalpur

  2. Markaz Taiba, Muridke

  3. Sarjal / Tehra Kalan

  4. Mehmoona Joya Facility, Sialkot

  5. Markaz Ahle Hadith Barnala, Bhimber

  6. Markaz Abbas, Kotli

  7. Maskar Raheel Shahid, Kotli District

  8. Shawai Nallah Camp, Muzaffarabad

  9. Markaz Syedna Bilal

In response, Pakistan has placed its air force on high alert and warned of retaliation at a time and place of its choosing.

Meanwhile, officials reported that Pakistan Army targeted civilian areas along the Line of Control (LoC), killing seven civilians and injuring 38 others in cross-border shelling. The attack has heightened tensions along the border.

Flight operations across North India have also been impacted in the wake of the strikes. Airlines including IndiGo, Air India, and SpiceJet have issued advisories. Airports in Srinagar, Jammu, Amritsar, Leh, Delhi, and Dharamshala have reported cancellations and delays. Delhi Airport issued a travel advisory due to changes in airspace conditions following the operation.

The situation remains tense, with both nations maintaining high alert along the border and in air operations.
