Encounter breaks out between security forces, millitants in Central Kashmir’s Rangreth

An encounter broke out between militants and government forces in the Rangreth area of Srinagar outskirts on Sunday.

Reports said that a joint team of security forces including Army, CRPF, and Jammu and Kashmir police jointly launched the Cordon and Search operation in the area following the inputs about the presence of militants.

An official said as the joint team of security forces surrounded the suspected spot the hiding militants fired upon them which was retaliated ensuing the gun battle in the area.

A senior police officer also confirmed the exchange of gunfire in the area and said the encounter is underway.
