Empowering Panchayats Key to Grassroots Development in J&K: Abrar Ahmad Bhat (JDU)
Srinagar:Abrar Ahmad Bhat State General Secretary and spokesperson of the Janata Dal (United) in Jammu and Kashmir, today emphasized that empowering Panchayati Raj Institutions is the key to ensuring genuine grassroots development across the Union Territory.
In a statement Abrar Ahmad Bhat said that strong and autonomous Panchayats play a vital role in addressing local issues and fulfilling the developmental aspirations of the people. He stressed that when Panchayats are equipped with adequate powers financial resources and administrative support development becomes more transparent inclusive and people-centric.
“Panchayats are the backbone of rural governance. Strengthening them will not only improve delivery of basic services but also ensure greater public participation in decision-making,” Bhat said. He added that grassroots democracy can flourish only when local representatives are empowered to plan and execute development works according to local needs.
The JDU spokesperson further highlighted that effective implementation of government schemes at the village level depends largely on the capacity and authority of Panchayati institutions. He called upon the administration to further strengthen Panchayats so that benefits of development reach the last person in the queue.
