BASHARAT RASHID
Awantipora, 6 Oct: The residents of Bilal Colony in Awantipora area of South Kashmir on Wednesday expressed resentment against authorities for failing to provide them drinking water supply.
A group of local women, who were standing in a queue, to get clean water, from a tubewell on Islamic University road have said that they have been facing water scarcity for a long time, with no concrete step being taken from authorities.
They said that “area is having a prestigious University, and now AIIMS around, water facility still is a distant dream for its residents.”
Women particularly are the worst sufferers as they have to fetch clean water from a nearby tubewell which becomes quite hectic in times of inclement weather.
Few women while talking to Arising State said that top officials visit University and AIIMS site quite oftenly, however nobody pays heed to redress the water problem crisis in the area.
The local women demanded that water supply should be ensured in their area at the earliest.
