Article 35A: Kashmir Lawyers Body Asks Its Team To Be Present In SC on Feb 20, 21
Requesting all the team members constituted by J&K High Court Bar Association Srinagar ,the bar asked its members on Tuesday to remain present for opposing the petitions filed for scrapping of Article 35-A and Article 370 of the Constitution of India, in the Supreme Court on 20 and February 21, when the cases are most likely to come up for the consideration before the Court.It also appreciated the fact that while as, two of its members namely Mohammad Ashraf Bhat, General Secretary Adil Asimi, Joint Secretary are already camping in Delhi and are in constant touch with the Advocate-on-Record, the other members namely Mian Abdul Qayoom, President Aijaz Bedar, Vice President Z. A. Shah, Senior Advocate Z. A. Qureshi, Senior Advocate R. A. Jan, Senior Advocate N. A. Ronga, Advocate M. S. Reshi, Advocate Rafiq Ahmad Joo, Advocate Abdul Aziz Teeli, Advocate Mian Muzaffar, Advocate Surat Shakeel are leaving for Delhi today on 19February , where they will join the other members of the team, so as to cause their appearance in the court on 20 and 21st February. Meanwhile, in a meeting held on Tuesday the Executive Committee members of the Bar Association expressed their serious concern over the treatment being meted out to the Kashmiri employees working in Jammu, as also to the Kashmiri students and businessmen, who are returning to their homes because of the attacks and the threatening given to them by the communal and fanatic forces and are being asked to vacate the hostels and private accommodations hired by them, forthwith. “The members while condemning such acts and showing their solidarity with the employees, students and businessmen, demand that the employees as well as the students and businessmen should be provided safety and security by the concerned authorities and those who are attacking and threatening them should be taken to task,” a spokesman said. The lawyers body also appealed the International Community and conscious members of Indian Civil Society to raise their voice against such atrocities so that there is an end to the miseries and sufferings of the people of Kashmir.
