Anantnag drug menace, 35 cases registered, 40 arrested under NDPS in April Month, Police

Anantnag,03 May: Police on Monday claimed to have arrested 40 notorious drug peddlers in south kashmir’s Anantnag District in the month of April and recovered a “huge quantity” of drugs including Charas, Fukki, Bhang powder/Bhang Boosa , Poppy Straw, Sedative tablets, Welcyrex/Codeine syrup, Heroin, and Brown Sugar from their possession’s.

A massive drive was launched against the drug peddlers here in Anantnag District after the new SSP Anantnag Imtiyaz Hussain had joined in two months back. The police today claimed to have registered 35 cases under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic substance (NDPS) and arrested 40 persons from the last month in the south Kashmir’s Anantnag District which is higher in comparison to the last several months in Anantnag District.

In an statement Anantnag police claimed to seized as Charas 40.375 Kgs, Fukki 52.00 kgs, Bhang powder/Bhang Boosa 19.00 kgs, Poppy Straw 22 Kgs, Sedative tablet’s 5217 tablet’s, Welcyrex/Codeine syrup 2285 Bottles, Heroin- 0.23 Grams and Brown Sugar 10 Grams.
