A record 100 Primary angioplasties completed by the cardiology unit of GMC Anantnag: Principal Applauds
Anantnag, 17 July : The recently established cardiology unit of GMC Anantnag, today, completed 100 primary angioplasties. These 100 cases of angioplasties were performed in a record time period of 3 months and 6 days.
Patients from all around, including Pir Panjal and other far flung areas with acute hearts, were referred to GMC Anantnag for advanced cardiac care including angioplasties for advanced coronary vesicular diseases. The door to balloon time ( a very important parameter for primary angioplasty) has been around 20 to 30 minutes, which is at least 10 minutes less than most of the cardiac centers. All patients had a successful procedure and went home in good health except one mortality. The patient was lost to cardiogenic shock.
Since the beginning of the cath lab, no patient with a heart attack or complete heart block or any cardiac emergency has been referred from GMC Anantnag to any other centre. All this has been possible because of the faith that both common people and referring physicians have reposited in our system.
Principal GMC Anantnag Prof Dr Rukhsana Najeeb has played a pivotal role in the establishment of the cardiology unit at the institution. Her hard work and dedication has been a boon to the Healthcare in whole of the South kashmir.
The cardiology unit, in addition to primary angioplasty, is performing all high-end coronary procedures, including left main, bifurcation, CTO, and peripheral angioplasty as well.
It is worth mentioning that GMC Anantnag, in the last three months, has implanted the maximum number of devices among all the institutions in the valley, as reported by the cardiology unit head of GMC Anantnag Dr. Syed Maqbool. All these procedures have been performed under Jammu and Kashmir Govt’s Sehat Scheme, which is a boon to the poor and needy.
Principal GMC Anantnag Prof. Dr. Rukhsana Najeeb applauded all the three Ace cardiologist of GMC Anantnag ( Dr Showkat Hussain Shah, Dr Shamim Iqbal, Dr Syed Maqbool) and their support staff for the dedication and memorable contribution towards improving patient care and academics at GMC Anantnag
