ADGP Armed J&K Nitish Kumar inspects Armed Police Complex at Wayen, Kupwara

Nitish Kumar, IPS, ADGP Armed J&K, today visited the Armed Police Complex (APC), Wayen, Kupwara, after assuming charge as ADGP Armed J&K on August 31, 2026. During the visit, he conducted a comprehensive inspection of the complex and took stock of its infrastructure, facilities and overall functioning. He was accompanied by Shri Maqsood-ul-Zaman, IPS, DIG AP Kashmir Range.On his arrival at APC Wayen, the ADGP was accorded a ceremonial Guard of Honour at the Quarter Guard by smart contingents of the 4th JKAP IR Battalion and 2nd JKAP Border Battalion.

The ADGP inaugurated a newly constructed facility at the complex and inspected various establishments of both battalions stationed at APC Wayen. The visit underscored the Armed Police leadership’s commitment to strengthening infrastructure, enhancing operational efficiency and improving welfare facilities for police personnel.

Shri Nitish Kumar also attended a joint Darbar of the 4th JKAP IR Battalion and 2nd JKAP Border Battalion, where he patiently listened to the grievances and concerns raised by the jawans. He assured the personnel of appropriate redressal of their genuine issues.

Addressing the personnel, the ADGP reiterated the Armed Police leadership’s commitment towards the welfare and wellbeing of police personnel and their families. He emphasised the need for maintaining a positive and professional working environment and ensuring adequate facilities and resources for the personnel.The ADGP also directed the In-charge MI Room to conduct physical health check-ups of at least 20 personnel of the battalions every day to ensure their health and wellbeing.

Emphasising the importance of regular training in the Police force, Shri Nitish Kumar said that continuous training is essential for improving the skills, discipline, efficiency and operational preparedness of personnel. He stressed that regular training enables police personnel to discharge their duties more effectively, respond confidently to challenging situations and remain physically and mentally prepared for various operational requirements.

He further observed that continuous training promotes teamwork, professionalism, leadership qualities and a sense of responsibility, thereby contributing to a disciplined, efficient and capable police organisation.The turnout of police personnel from both battalions was found to be very good, while the entire complex was observed to be neat, clean and well-maintained.

The ADGP appreciated the dedication and professionalism displayed by the officers and personnel and urged them to continue upholding the highest standards of discipline, integrity and teamwork while discharging their duties.Among those present on the occasion were Shri Al-Tahir Gilani, SSP Kupwara; Shri J.P.
