Shopian: Continuing its sustained crackdown against illegal mining, Police in Shopian seized two tractors allegedly involved in the unauthorized extraction and transportation of minerals from the Imamsahib area of the district.During routine patrolling, a police party from Police Station Imamsahib intercepted two tractors engaged in the illegal extraction and transportation of minerals without valid royalty documents. The vehicles were immediately seized.
In this connection, FIR No. 47/2026 has been registered at Police Station Imamsahib under the relevant provisions of law, and investigation has been set into motion.J&K Police reiterated its firm commitment to protecting the district’s natural resources and ensuring strict legal action against those involved in illegal mining activities.The police also appealed to the general public to cooperate by reporting any instances of illegal mining or related unlawful activities, assuring that the identity of informants will be kept strictly confidential.
