MHA Orders Renaming of Jammu Kashmir Raj Bhavan as Lok Bhavan

Share

The Raj Bhavan in Jammu and Kashmir, the official residence of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, has been officially renamed Lok Bhavan following a directive from the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).

In an order issued by the LG’s Principal Secretary, Mandeep K. Bhandari, the administration confirmed that the change complies with an MHA communication dated November 25, 2025. The order notes that the institution previously known as Raj Bhavan, Jammu & Kashmir, will now be referred to exclusively as Lok Bhavan, Jammu & Kashmir, for all official purposes.

The renaming stems from a proposal raised during the Governors’ Conference 2024, which recommended rebranding all Raj Bhavans across the country as Lok Bhavans. The new title comes into force with immediate effect.
