Urdu requirement in Naib Tehsildar exam sparks outrage: ABVP holds statewide protest

Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) Jammu Kashmir has organized a statewide protestat all district headquarters in Jammu and Kashmir against the recent notification makingUrdu a compulsory qualifying subject for the post of Naib Tehsildar.The compulsory Urdu requirement is deemed discriminatory, outdated, and contradictory to the promise of equal opportunity. ABVP Jammu Kashmir strongly believes that merit, not language, should determine who serves the people. ABVP Jammu Kashmir demands the removal of Urdu as a mandatory qualifying subject for the post of Naib Tehsildar and urges the administration to ensure that the recruitment process is fair and inclusive. The protest was held today, June 10, 2025, at Jammu Mahanagar, Udhampur, Rajouri, Jammu University in Jammu and Kashmir, with ABVP karyakartas, aspirants, students, and concerned citizens participating. Sannak Shrivats, State Secretary ABVP Jammu Kashmir said, “If the government fails to revoke the Urdu qualifying exam requirement, ABVP Jammu Kashmir will intensify its protests across the state. We will continue to mobilize students, youth, and concerned citizens to demand a fair and inclusive recruitment process for the post of Naib Tehsildar.The government’s inaction will be met with increased resistance and peaceful protests. We will not rest until the discriminatory requirement is removed and merit is given its due importance in the recruitment process. ABVP Jammu Kashmir is committed to promoting fairness and equality in administrative recruitment and will take all necessary steps to ensure that the voices of our youth are heard. We urge the government to reconsider its stance and take immediate action to address our demands. Failure to do so will lead to further escalation of the protest movement. ABVP Jammu Kashmir urges the administration to reconsider the compulsory Urdu requirement and ensure a fair and inclusive recruitment process. By joining hands, ABVP aims to promote fairness and equality in administrative recruitment.
