Young entrepreneur from Pampore establishes Mushroom Farming Unit under HADP Scheme
Pampore, 3 May: In a shining example of youth empowerment and self-sufficiency, Suhail Fayaz, a young entrepreneur from Meej, Pampore, has established a mushroom farming unit with the help of the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP).
Suhail, a B.Tech in Food Technology, converted his academic learning into a sustainable income-generating activity by leveraging the support and facilities offered under the HADP scheme.
His enterprise not only generates him a regular source of income but also provides employment opportunities for others in the area, as three individuals are working at the mushroom unit.
Thanking the Department of Agriculture for their ongoing support in assisting him in achieving his dream, Suhail said that, “With the assistance of the HADP scheme, I was able to establish my mushroom unit, where three of us are working currently.”
He also called on other youth to embark on similar ventures, challenging them to establish their own entrepreneurial businesses and become independent contributors to society.
Notably, the Holistic Agriculture Development Program (HADP) is a comprehensive program launched by the Agriculture Production Department of Jammu and Kashmir.
It consists of many projects covering various aspects of agriculture, including horticulture, crop production, and livestock husbandry. “The program aims to transform the agricultural economy of Jammu and Kashmir by promoting sustainability and commercial viability through 75 schemes.”
