MLAs Raise Concerns Over Land Allotment to Sri Lankan Cricketer in J&K
Jammu, Mar 08 : Members of the Legislative Assembly on Saturday expressed concern over the reported allotment of land to a Sri Lankan cricketer in Jammu & Kashmir, questioning the legality and process behind the decision.
During the Question Hour, CPI(M) MLA Muhammad Yosouf Tarigami raised the issue, stating that land in Kathua had been allotted to a Sri Lankan cricketer. “On what basis has this allotment been made?” he asked, without disclosing the cricketer’s name.
Congress MLA Ghulam Ahmad Mir also voiced his concerns, questioning how a non-Indian cricketer was granted land in J&K. “This is a serious issue that requires immediate scrutiny,” he remarked.
Responding to the queries, Minister for Agriculture Production Department Javaid Ahmad Dar acknowledged the concerns and stated that the matter falls under the purview of the Revenue Department. “This issue needs to be examined,” he said.(KNO)
