Militant killed in brief gunfight in Baramulla
A militant was killed in a brief shootout with the security forces in Watergam area of Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Friday.
Local news agency reported that the militants fired at a patrolling party of the army’s 32 RR in Watergam. A senior police officer said that the army patrolling party was passing through the area when hiding militants fired upon them, triggering a brief exchange of fire.
The officer further said that in this exchange of fire one militant was killed.
Quoting sources, it said that one pistol and three grenades were recovered from the slain militant. However, the identity of the slain militant was yet to he ascertained.
