Hydatid Cyst Lung Operated at AH-GMC Anantnag

Anantnag 21 June 2023: Department of General Surgery, Govt Medical College Anantnag (GMC)  did another successful Thoracotomy surgery here at MMABM HospitalJanglatmandi Anantnag,yesterday. Assisted by the
Dept of Anesthesia, the team of doctors achieved another milestone wherein a first-ever case of Hydatid Cyst Lung was successfully operated on.

A patient with recurrent episodes of cough, fever, and chest pain on the evaluation done in the Dept of Radiology was found to be having large Hydatid lung disease. The patient was operated upon via the Right Posterolateral Thoracotomy technique with enucleation of the cyst followed by capitonnage. The surgery was conducted by Dr. Mohammad Amin Rather, CVTS surgeon, assisted by Dr. Manzoor and Dr Rayees. The Anaesthesia team was led by Dr. Zafar Malik’ Associate Professor Dept of Anesthesia.

The patient is doing fine in the immediate postoperative period.

It is pertinent to mention here that Thoracotomy procedures and lung surgeries have been lately stated in GMC Anantnag, otherwise such patients used to be referred to Skims before.
