Police register FIR over assault on magistrate in south Kashmir
Srinagar:Jammu and Kashmir Police on Thursday registered an FIR into the alleged thrashing of a magistrate by the army in police station Qazigund.
Sub divisional magistrate (SDM) Duroo, Ghulam Rasool Wani, on Tuesday alleged that army men thrashed him along with four other officials and damaged his official vehicle near the Ujroo area of Qazigund along the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district, when they were on way to attend an election related meeting. According to Wani, he was on his way to Vesu to attend an election-related meeting with deputy commissioner Anantnag when army men “suddenly went berserk and even seized the poll material from us.”
A police officer said that the FIR (61/2019) has been lodged in police station Qazigund under section RPC sections of 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 341 (wrongful restraint). A case FIR no 61 of 2019 under section 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 341 (wrongful restraint) RPC has been registered in police station Qazigund, said another official.
