Ex-PDP activist shot at in Kulgam, hospitalised in critical condition
A member of local panchayat was critically injured after he was shot at by masked gunmen in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Wednesday, reports said.
According to a local news agency the masked gunmen barged inside the house of Abdul Majeed Dar son-in-law of Ghulam Ahmad Malla and fired at him, leaving him seriously injured.
Majeed who suffered a bullet injury was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital where from he was referred to SMHS hospital in Srinagar in a critical condition. Majeed is a panch who had contested the recently-concluded Panchayat election as an independent candidate. He was earlier affiliated with the Peoples Democratic Party, according to reports.
Soon after the incident, a joint team of army and SOG launched a cordon-and-search operation in the area to nab the assailants.
