Anantnag Food & Safety department double statement leaves people in lurch,raids two shops in Anantnag ,claiming to have seized fake verka clarified butter

Anantnag: A team of Food & Safety department Anantnag yesterday raided two shops in Anantnag town and claimed to have seized arround 1000 kg of fake verka clarified butter (ghee) here in south Kashmir’s area of Anantnag District.

On the basis of a complaint filed that an imitation of   clarified ghee (butter) is coming in the market, we have raided two places in Anantnag town and seized verka clarified Ghee (butter) in both places, the sample has been taken for ascertaining the quality of the product. we will share the details after the results of the samples will come”, said a food & safety department official in a video clip to a reporter.

Another official in the department while talking to the media said ,”We don’t know if it’s fake or real as we have taken samples to ascertain the quality of the product. We have seized the product of both shopkeepers in Anantnag town on the basis of suspicion already.”

However, the statements of these two officials are not matching as one official says that based on a complaint ,the verka butter (Ghee) is fake and another says,we don’t know whether it’s fake or real yet ,untill the result of the samples will come. The department has sent samples to a lab for ascertaining the quality of product whether it is standard or substandard.

Sources told Arising state that the officials in food&  safety department has raided  shopkeepers, while the result has not come yet from the lab. It will be know when the result comes from the lab whether it is standard or substandard, sources said.

However, Arising state tried to contact the shopkeeper but his number was switched off.

Meanwhile, talking to the District officer Food & safety department Anantnag Zameer Ahmad said , “we have already taken samples for ascertaining the quality of the product, we will share details after the result of the samples will come, till then it will be too early to state   whether the product  is fake or real”.
