Shopian encounter update : 3 LeT militants killed

Shopian, Aug 30 : 3 LeT millitants were killed in a gunfight between militants and security forces at Nagbal village of Zainapora area in south Kashmir’s Shopian district, officials said on Tuesday.

An official said that a joint team of police, Army, and CRPF received inputs about the presence of militants in the area and thereby launched a search operation.

He said that as the joint team of forces intensified searches towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon the party, which was retaliated triggering an encounter.

The official said during the exchange of fire, three proscribed LeT militants were killed, further, identification is being ascertained besides a search operation is underway in the area.
